Psychological benefits of plantsIndoor hire plants reduce stress and improve productivity There are now vast volumes of evidence to show that the use of living indoor and outdoor plants can produce significant psychological benefits. One does not need to create a jungle to obtain such health advantages as a few strategically placed plants will do this very successfully. Early studies by Professor Roger Ulrich in the United States, showed that hospital patients recovered faster and with next to no complications from major surgery, if they were exposed to a view of nature from their hospital window. His conclusion was that "views of plants" and nature can reduce stress and in certain circumstances, can have beneficial health related influences. Studies at the Washington State University documents the psychological benefits that indoor plants produce in a windowless work place. Certain participants in the work place had their blood pressure and emotions monitored while completing simple tasks in the absence and presence of indoor plants. The results that were tabled showed that the participants were 12% more productive and less stressed in the room with plants, compared to those observed in the room without plants. Further evidence proving that indoor plants improve productivity and have psychological health benefits, have been tabled in many studies in the Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, Switzerland, France and Britain, to name a few.
